The Buckhead Boys lose a close one to Florida by a score of 3 to 1. Clayton pitches a great game but it is not enough and Florida squeaks out the victory and the trip to Williamsport. Georgia comes home with a great run but just short of the big trip. The Fans were up front and supportive with many making the trip to St. Pete to back the Bucks. Those who could not make the trip go to the ESPN Zone in Buckhead to root for the boys. They are much appreciated by all. We love you guys. Go Buckhead.

8-11-2005 Thursday

The Buckhead Boys win their semi-final game against West Virginia convincingly with a score of 14 to 3. Keller Carlock led with the bat and leading the tournament with the stick. Keller's homerun scored three runs starting the offense for Buckhead. Solid pitching from John Stelling made for a great combination. Florida downed Tenn. and so there will be a rematch of the 2003 contest between Georgia and Florida. ESPN will televise the game at 7PM on Friday Night

BUCKHEAD WINS SEMI-FINAL AGAINST WEST VIRGINIA TO GO THE FINALS AND TO PLAY ON ESPN!!!

BUCKHEAD IS IN THE SEMI-FINALS!

The Buckhead Boys Win a nail biter against winless South Carolina by a score of 6 to 5. Buckhead is ranked the #1 seed in Pool A and will play the number 2 seed in Pool B. Clayton pitched an outstanding game but the SC boys did some hits in the 6th to scare the Buckhead nation with the Clayton striking out the final batter to stop the rally.

We broadcast our last production tonight and will start just before 4 PM. The routine is the same as prior broadcasts.  Find the Wachovia Broadcast Link on the Homepage of www.buckheadbaseball.com .  Click on it just before game time. Read the previous daily posts for how to connect and what to do if you are having trouble.

It has been fun to do the broadcasts and Go Buckhead!

LINK TO LISTEN TO BROADCAST OF GAME AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA IS UPDATED ON HOMEPAGE. LOOK IN THE SAME PLACE, LOWER RIGHT OF HOMEPAGE, FOR THE BROADCAST LINK. WACHOVIA, OUR SPONSOR, AND THE LINE BELOW WILL TAKE YOU TO THE GAME AT GAME TIME.

Arrival At The Park

Well, things have gotten very complicated. North Carolina lost to Tenn. last night by a score of 10 to 1. This makes Tenn. and NC  with the same record of 2 and 1. The effect of this is that 1 and 1 Georgia must win against 0 and 2 South Carolina tonight or GA goes home. If GA wins tonight then NC goes home and GA is the # 1 seed in pool A. The Buckhead Boys are in a do or die situation to stay at the Regionals. North Carolina sits on the bubble and must watch their fate decided out on the field.

We will web cast the game live tonight from the stadium as we have the prior two games. I will update the link today so that when you click it will take you to the broadcast. Be out there pulling for us. Go Buckhead.

Arrival At The Dorm

8-8-2005 Monday

The Buckhead Boys take a tough loss to North Carolina in the second pool game. The Score was 7 to 2. The first inning allowed 6 unearned runs by Buckhead and that was the story of the game. One highlight was an opposite field tater by Thomas Patton. A good rip. We didn't hit'em where they ain't.

We play South Carolina on Tuesday and that will decide our fate.

Georgia State Semi-final Game Recap! Very Simple...

Stelling pitches a nearly perfect game. Cartersville only scores one run. Egan goes 3 for 3 with a single, a double and and a homerun. Campbell hits a tater on his birthday. Buckhead scores 7 runs. Buckhead moves to the championship.

Georgia State Championship Game Recap! Not so simple...

Buckhead is the visitor. Columbus American is home.

A real nail biter all the way.

Inning One: 0 to 0

Pitcher's Duel, Mowing them down...

Buckhead: Columbus fields the crafty left hander we saw last year. Egan strolls (walks) to start the contest. Stelling grounds to short 6-3. Lau and Austin succumb to Ks.

Columbus: Lau climbs the mound for Buckhead. Columbus produces three wormers to 3UA (First unassisted), 6-3 (Ground out to short), and 4-3 (Ground out to second) to rapidly end the inning. Lau looks impressive.

Inning Two: 0 to 0

Nobody Dents The Plate...

Buckhead: Carlock reaches on an error by the shortstop (E-6). Campbell and Patton fall from Ks. Linginfelter lines out on a smack to third (LD-5). Again the inning is quick and painful.

Columbus: The next three batters go down in rapid sequence. The first batter worms out to third (G5-3). The second batter pops straight up and Egan makes a fabulous catch at the backstop. Last batter whiffs to end the inning (K). Lau is sharp and deadly.

Inning Three: 2 to 0

Buckhead Stings First... Columbus silent.

Buckhead: Stickney gets free passage on a 3-1 count taking his place at the first sack. Egan looks at the first strike and punishes the next one for an enormous round trip to score the first two runs of the game stunning the Columbus crowd into silence. Stelling had a well hit single to follow but Columbus makes a couple of good plays against Lau and Austin and the inning is over.

Columbus: Lau punches out the first batter and grounds out the next on a G1-3. An error puts a Columbus on first but Stick makes an unassisted play on second to make the third out.

Inning Four: 4 to 1

Buckhead Piles On & Columbus Answers...

Buckhead: Carlock singles. Ian gets a pass to first. One and two are occupied. Blair hits to a 3-6 FC moving Carlock to third but Ian is out at second. Linginfelter walks. Sawyer pops one over the first baseman driving Carlock home. William is thrown out caught in a pickle b/w 2 and 3. Robbie makes third and goes home on a close throw and scores. Egan is out stealing second after BB.

Columbus: Starting the two hole batter smacks a 1 run four bagger for the first Columbus run of the game. The 3 batter pops a single to follow. Lau gains the upper hand with a pop out to Carlock on first. Clayton Ks the next guy and Stelling makes the third out with a 4-3.

Inning Five: 6 to 4

Buckhead Buys Insurance and Columbus Makes It Interesting...

Buckhead: Stelling leads off with a double. Clayton helps his case with a single driving in Stelling with lightning speed. Lau also scores with a hit from Austin. The rally crumbles after two runs with a 1-6-3 double play. Sebastian gets a single but Blair grounds out on a G4-3 to end it.

Columbus: The first play is a routine fly out to right. Nothing is routine after that. Columbus produces a double and a single to give us a 1st and 3rd setup. The lead off hits a F-8 but the runners do not advance. Passed ball scores the runner from Third. Then the 2 hole batter comes up again and yes, smacks another Tater to for a 2 run homer moving the score to 6 to 4. Lau throws a single pitch to a fly out to Sebastian in left to retire the side.

Inning Six: 6 to 4

Buckhead Holds On and Columbus Falls Away...

Buckhead: Linginfelter is issued a walk. Stickney runs out a swing bunt in front of the plate to get on. Egan and Stelling are K'ed. Lau rolls out on a G6-3. Buckhead must hold them to win.

Columbus: The first batter reaches on a E-5. The next batter reaches on a E-4. Two on and No Outs! Egan makes a great play with a G2-5 throw to third on a dribbler in front of the plate. One out. The play of the game is next. The 7 hole batter hits a long liner/fly to right center going to the fence. Austin makes a ESPN WEB GEM back handed catch at the fence and holds the runners at first and second very probably saving the game. Lau strikes out the last batter to stick it. Go Buckhead!

Game Recap: Rally With A Vengeance!

Buckhead Wins 18 to 4 Over West Point In 4 Innings. Buckhead are the visitors and West Point are home.

Inning One

The Big Sleep,  BH 0 to WP 0

Buckhead: The Buckhead boys are in for an unexpectantly rough ride. Egan, Patton, and Lau, all strong with the bat, come up empty in the first inning via a fly out and two rollers. The faithful are not worried as we'll get'em next time prevails.

West Point: Sawyer is chosen to hurl and climbs the hill. The omen comes with the first batter who gets a bean ride to first. Sawyer recovers by forcing a fly gathered by Austin in right. The next batter hits into a fielder's choice up the middle with the force at second a G-8-6. A great Patton (Center)-Stickney (Short) combo. The next batsman is nailed and gets a ticket to first. Two on and Two out, the fifth batter pops to SS manned by Stickney. No damage in the first.

Inning Two

A Shock To The System,  BH 1 to WP 4

Buckhead: Carlock stands in the box to start the second and takes a breeze for the first out. Austin follows with a fly out to center. Things look very unsettling for the Bucks. Campbell collects two strikes and the crowd is anxious. Ian is unaffected and sees his pitch. He smacks a no doubt walk off dinger to left to raise our hopes. Stelling follows with a one bagger bunt laid down perfectly and promptly steals second. Next, Sawyer is a K victim and Buckhead goes to  the grass.

West Point: Sawyer starts strong whiffing the first batter. Suddenly, "Honey, we shrunk the strike zone!"  The usually accurate Buckhead hurler cannot get a call. After four walks, we go to the bullpen. The "Buckhead Baseball Call To The Bullpen" goes to left handed Sebastian. It is a bit of jam with the bases juiced and one out. Grant has his usual short warm-up and is ready to go. The second offering is smacked hard to right but Austin makes a quick snatch F-9 and gets the ball in with no damage. Two outs. At this point, everything goes haywire. We are looking OK when the WP #3 swinger hits a strong roller up the middle. Somehow, our usually sure footed Center has issues with the ball and slips. The ball makes it to deep centerfield. West Point runners look like a Merry Go Round gone out of control. The ball gets back in time to stop the batter from scoring. 4 runs so far. Sebastian calmly Ks the next guy to end the inning. Thankfully.

Inning Three

Forgiveness And Redemption,  BH 10 to WP 4

Buckhead: The fans are shocked and very quiet. Things are very fuzzy from now on. Stickney batting in the 9 hole and gets a free pass on 4 pitches. Nothing to swing at. With one on, Egan smacks a double driving in the Stick who scores from first with blazing speed. Patton gets an E-6 reach for a 1 and 3 arrangement. Lau manufactures a stroll to load 'em. Carlock downed with a K on a close inside pitch. Austin singles driving in a run. The Bucks are inching back. The solid baseball of the 3rd inning is having a detrimental effect to the WP twirler. Campbell and Stelling have duels with pitcher ending in walks for both. Sebastian steps in and is K'ed with a good pitch. Stickney is back! He again gets a free ride but this time has to work for it with some great defensive hitting.  Egan is up again. He has a fearsome look on his face and the pitcher whose wheels are very loose hits him on the first pitch. They changed pitchers somewhere in here I think. But it did not matter. Patton next shows that speed kills. He puts down a slow roller to 4 but within a few nanoseconds is within a few steps of first. 4 seeing that Thomas is going to beat the throw hurries and 4 throws it away. The ball goes flying around the outfield and the infield in such a way that everyone comes home and Patton ends up now within a few steps of HOME!  By mere chance the ball somehow ends up in the catcher's mitt and with a close and debatable call Patton is tagged out at the plate. Whoa Nelly!

West Point: Sebastian is perfect in the third. Three Ks in three batters. What can you say? The fielders are on break for duration.

Inning Four

Going To Graceland,  BH 18 to WP 4

Buckhead: This inning starts with Lau being beaned and sent to first. Carlock singles to put two on. Austin sits with a K. Ian piles on with a single. Stelling knocks a one bagger and gets a Ribbie. Sebastian helps his cause with a double down the right with Ribbies.  Blair steps in and hits a grounder up the middle for two Ribbies and ends up on third due to some shenanigans.  Egan falls to the K monster. Linginfelter gets in the box and clobbers a opp-field homer way over the right field fence!  A line drive back to back tater from Lau down the left line follows William's. Carlock Ks to end the inning.

West Point: With the exception of beaning the third batter for WP, Sebastian collects three Ks in the fourth for a great outing and to put the lid on it. He had 7Ks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

The 12s spring to life after starting moribund and come back from a 4 to 1 deficit to win convincingly by the Mercy Rule in the 4th by a score of 18 to 4. We had three purveyors of the long ball tonight. Campbell, Lau, and Linginfelter all went deep. Sebastian came in as a reliever and pitched extremely well as well as delivering an excellent drive to right. I will try to do a full game recap but it will be hard as there was some real dipsy doodles out there.

The 12s do not play Wednesday but restart on Thursday against Columbus American.

12s Play West Point LL tonight in Bogart at 8PM!

Game One Recap

"When 6 to 0 is tense, Life is good!"

~anonymous Marketing Executive for a major soft drink company...

One thing for sure. Bogart is hotter than a Billy Goat in a pepper patch. Our 8PM start time works out as the temperature falls below the melting point of lead around the first pitch. Buckhead are the visitors and Franklin National are home.

Inning One

Pitchers Rule The World,  BH 0 to FN 0

Buckhead: Egan is the one hole for Buckhead and after a 2-2 count lines one to left center for a keystone hit to get things started. Unfortunately, the Franklin pitcher finds his delivery and Buckhead goes down with a trifecta of fly out, ground out, and a strikeout stranding Egan.

Franklin: Lau toes the rubber  and quickly sits the first three down with a scary balloon shot to center easily gathered by Patton followed by two solid Ks. He looks strong out there.

Inning Two

Buckhead Draws Blood,  BH 2 to FN 0

Buckhead: Carlock stands in to take his licks and right off the Franklin pitcher pegs him in the left elbow giving him a pass to first. This is the start of some frequent near misses and occasional beaners from the Franklin pitcher. A ground out to the pitcher follows. Stelling bats next. After a ball, John spies his pitch and smokes a dinger that is never in doubt over the left center fence bringing Carlock home and  scoring  two. Two ground outs follow and the Bucks retire.

Franklin: The first batter smacks a chopper to Blair on third who captures it and throws him out. Lau issues a walk. The next National reaches on a sharply hit clinker with a strange bounce to 6. Lau recovers nicely with a strikeout and a ground out to the 1-3 to leave two adrift.

Inning Three

Buckhead Tacks On Another One,  BH 3 to FN 0

Buckhead: Egan leads off again in the third. He smacks out to 6. Patton follows with a strong fly to left. Two balls well hit but still two out. Lau helps his case with a single to left. Austin, who must appear a human target after being grazed in the first with no walk,  is nailed by a pitch and gets a casualty pass. Both runners move ahead on a wild pitch. Carlock knocks the ball to third and the fielder has a cerebral miscue and tries to force at 5 where there is none. He then weakly throws to first and late to miss Carlock. Lau scores easily. National recovers with a K to end the inning.

Franklin: Lau continues to look dominant. After a weak grounder, Lau produces a 1-3. The top of the National order pops out to Stelling at 4. The third batter surprises us with a single to right. Lau gets another 1-3 out to end the inning and leave the runner.

Inning Four

Both Threaten None Score,  BH 3 to FN 0

Buckhead: We start off with a roller to the pitcher for a 1-3. The National pitcher had been really "inside" and we have been bailing out on bean balls just about every batter. Finally as we expected would eventually happen to someone, Linginfelter is plunked in head on the first pitch. Thanks for helmets. After a short time he pops up and takes his place at first. Sawyer gets a Annie Oakley and Buckhead has two on. Unfortunately, we strikeout and ground out to end the inning, leaving two hanging. The "inside" pitching gets a warning to the National bench.

Franklin: After the first two batters get on with an error and a walk. Lau punches three in a row. Fabulous pitching to watch.

Inning Five

People On But Nuthin' Doin',  BH 3 to FN 0

Buckhead: After two strikeouts, Carlock reaches on grounder up the middle. We leave him stranded on a wormer for a 3 unassisted.

Franklin: The bottom of the 5th starts the wrong way with a single to left by the bottom of the order. The runner moves to second. The top of the order hits a hard bounder to Blair on third who tries to look the runner at second and throws to first to get the runner. The runner on second still makes third with one out. Lau is steady and strikes out the next two to retire the Nationals and leaving a runner in scoring position and no place to go.

Inning Six

Target Rich Environment,  BH 6 to FN 0

Buckhead: We lead with a K. Blair walks on four straight wide ones. The next batter flys to 5 and then things change. Ian comes in to pinch run. Egan promptly singles. Patton who has been hitting strongly all night with nothing to show flares a Texas leaguer to the left line, gets a one-sacker and an RBI. Lau bingles to right center and we now have two more. We end with a ground out 4-3. Three runs added.

Franklin: Now down by 6, Franklin is on life support and praying for sheetrock. Lau is unrelenting with a K to start. Stelling picks up the next batter's wormer and throws him out 4-3. Lau puts in the call to the coast with a final K  to end the game. Buckhead starts the tournament well and looks forward to tonight.

Clayton throws a two hitter with 10 Ks.

Post-game talk. Look at the Humidity!

Clayton pitches a masterpiece coupled with some timely defense to blank the Franklin National team by a score of 6 to 0. Franklin fielded a strong pitcher who despite some "Bull Durham" threw a good game to hold Buckhead to six runs. Stelling had a two run shot over the left center fence that was timely and very well hit.

I will post a full game recap sometime during the AM.

7-23-2005 Saturday

11s WIN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Buckhead 11s stand off a last minute rally by N. Columbus to win the Georgia State Championship by a score of 11 to 7! Jack Geraghty pitched 5 terrific innings holding Columbus to 3 runs. While Jack started the sixth, the heat and enormous effort had taken its toll and Spencer Garrett was called on to pitch in relief for Jack in a bit of a jam. The team Northern knocked on the door scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth but it was not enough and Spencer backed by the 11s held them off. Of Note: Spencer  hit an enormous Tater over the left center fence that qualifies as a tape measure job and Harton popped a double landing in the center warning track. Arnold also got a key hit as did others. All the boys and coaches were superlative representing Buckhead to the State of Georgia. Job Well Done!

District 9 12s Game Recap of Buckhead Vs. Murphey Candler

Inning One 1 to 0 Murphey Candler

A Bad Moon Is Rising...

John Stelling is pitching for Buckhead and we are the home team. We are posted in the visitors dugout because Murphey Candler was waiting for us to arrive and "just picked one". It was prophetic!

Murphey Candler: The MC lead off batter has a 3-1 count and hit a grounder to Blair G-4-3 on second for casualty number one. The second batter is walked after a full count. MC 4, who is having a great tournament, has a hit to left moving everyone up. MC 8 hit a grounder up the middle for a hit. The Buckhead crowd has a bit of the heebee geebees then Stelling strikes out MC 22. Now two outs are recorded and everyone feels better. Suddenly, MC 9 hits the second pitch to left scoring MC 6. Stelling forces a ground out of MC 12 on a G-4-3 to retire the Hammers.

Buckhead:  Nothing doing for Buckhead in the first inning. Stelling leads off with what will be the boys pattern for the evening, an F-5. Egan follows with an F-9 and Lau grounds out. The Buckhead faithful are nervous with such artillery held at bay.

Inning Two 2 to 1 Murphey Candler

An Instability In The Force

Murphey Candler:  MC 1 leads off with a hit to left on the second pitch. Stelling recovers with a strike out swinging by MC 25. MC 2 shocks the horned crowd with a single to left which advances MC1. MC 6 follows with a double which scores MC 1 running the score to 2 to 0. MC 4 hits into a Fielder's choice to make the second out. Stelling steels himself and throw MC 8 out on strikes.

Buckhead: Campbell reaches on an E-6 to start the inning. Carlock pounds a ball to center which is gathered for a F-8. Austin steps in and shoots another rocket to center which is caught for another F-8. Patton smacks one right back at the pitcher who promptly throws it into the outfield for an error scoring Campbell. Blair flys out to end the inning. There is no joy in Mudville tonight...

Inning Three 2 to 1 Murphey Candler

Caught in the Sargasso Sea... Drifting, Drifting...

Murphey Candler: Stelling feels the gas and has a great inning on the mound. Strikes out MC 22 looking. Then forces MC 7 and MC 10 to roll a grounder to Blair at 4 who throws them both out.

Buckhead: Stick and Stelling are a strike out victims leading off. Egan gets the first hit of the game with a single. But Lau suffers on a well hit ball to third and is thrown out stranding Egan.

Inning Four  2 to 1 Murphey Candler

Feeling for a pulse...  Someone, call the doctor!

Murphey Candler: Egan is a man possessed. The hitter, MC 1, bunts in front of the plate. Egan roars from behind the plate like a predator. He throws the batter out with such force that it inspires Stelling forward. The inning ends promptly after that with a G-6-3 and a K-S. We are alive but the pain is not over.

Buckhead: Buckhead goes in swift order with a strikeout to Campbell and fly outs to Carlock and Austin. Many in the crowd are hanging crepe. The Buckhead fans have hope as they know that everyone can hit. It is a matter of time until someone smacks it.

Inning Five  2 to 1 Murphey Candler

Baseball is simply a nervous breakdown divided into innings. ~Earl Wilson

Murphey Candler: Buckhead starts out well with a ground out G-6-3 from MC 6. Then, we hit MC 4 with a pitch. Yikes. MC 8 reaches on a E-6. MC 22 Walks! The bases are juiced and we have only one out! Devine intervention! A grounder is hit and the fielder's choice from Carlock to Egan at home keeps all square. Stelling steels again and strikes out MC 12 swinging. All of Buckhead land can take a breath.

Buckhead: Buckhead tries a little mini-ball. Linginfelter gains a pass to first. Sawyer lays down the good bunt to SAC him to second. Following, Sebastion flys out and Stelling is stung by a K to end the inning. Nuthin doin again...

Inning Six  2 to 3 Buckhead

Winning isn't everything. Wanting to win is.  ~Catfish Hunter

Murphey Candler: MC 1 singles to left. This is not reassuring to the faithful. The second MC batter hits a towering fly ball to center for an out. The believers are very uneasy. The MC lead off batter hits a wormer up the middle. The Stick gets a bead on it and snatches it up and makes a bee line for the 2 pillow and throws to first to reap the twin killin'. The wind roars out of the MC balloon.

Buckhead: Egan is again at the plate. He fights the good fight but is extinguished by a G-6-3 out. Lau also swings into a G-6-3 out. The Buckhead tribe is fighting despair. Campbell manufacturers a walk to let in a little light  and moves to first. Carlock get into a titanic struggle at the plate with MC 8. Suddenly, on a 3-1 count he pops a serious roller up the middle for a hit. Now, two on and two out. No one in D-9 is comfortable now. Austin steps in. Two on and two out. Every little league story starts this way and a lot is on table. Austin takes a ball. Then it happens. Paul connects with a low outside fastball. The line drive clears the infield up and through the 3-4 slot and hits in front of the right fielder. Campbell and Carlock are going full tilt with two outs. The right fielder takes a bead on the ball and for reasons never to be known the ball somehow squirts to the fence. Campbell and Carlock run home and Buckhead had the victory. A defensive struggle with good pitching from Stelling and MC 8 all night. Go Buckhead!

Buckhead wins the District 9 Championship against an excellent Murphey Candler squad that could have gone either way.

Murphey Candler vs. Buckhead Recap! 7-14-2005

Murphey Candler field team did a great job getting the field in prime condition for the game. Thanks Murphey Candler.

Solid Pitching by Lau, Fabulous hitting by everyone!

Inning One: 0 to 0

No Score.

Murphey Candler: Clayton starts off strong with a ground out and two strike outs leaving one for MC on base.

Buckhead: The boys have slow start except for Egan who hits a two base line drive to the right gap. Egan is stranded there.

Inning Two: 7 to 0

Things definitely heat up in the second inning.

Murphey Candler: Austin is a wall in right with two great grabs of a fly and a line drive for outs. But after a walk and a bloop single, another walk loads the bases for MC in the second. The MC lead off #2 hits a screaming line drive destined to hit the fence on the fly directly at the Stick. Stick times a perfect leap to snatch it and retire the side.

Buckhead: Carlock starts out with a fly to right center for a hit. Austin follows with a liner to left center. Patton flys to left to load them up. With the bases juiced Blair comes to the plate. Finding a low outside fastball, he hits a long one over the right fielder's head to the fence for a double and two Ribbies to put Buckhead up by two. Stickney hits a worm burner sharply between the 3-4 spots for a hit to right.  Stelling is hit by a pitch and gains first.  Bases loaded again. Enter Egan on the right who drives a Grand Slam with a no question swing. After 7 runs, MC retires the side.

Inning Three: 7 to 2

MC puts some up.

Murphey Candler: After Lau pitches a convincing K, he issues a walk. MC #8 sees his pitch and pops a round tripper to score two. After a scare line drive down the first base line. Lau grounds out and strikes out the side.

Buckhead: Austin leads off with a grounder through the 5-6 hole. After two outs, Sebastion gets a fly to left for a hit. We get another out. Nuthin' doin' for Buckhead in this inning.

Inning Four: 9 to 2

Buckhead Answers.

Murphey Candler: After two ground outs, a walk is given. MC #6 gets a hit to right. MC #4, who is a tough out and good hitter, fights off nine pitches but finally hit a dribbler to Lau who throws him out.

Buckhead: Egan leads with a crushed line drive that could give a part to an armadillo but was robbed by MC #8 in center. Lau does the same with a well hit liner but it is picked off by #8 again in center. Campbell reaches on a E-1. Carlock hits a meteor shot to center that goes so high that it is a hazard to aviation and runs vertically down the net in center for a two run shot.

Inning Five: 13 to 2

Buckhead delivers the Coup de grāce.

Murphey Candler: MC 8 knocks a grounder through the 3-4 spot for a hit. After a ground out, Lau delivers two strike outs to end the side.

Buckhead: Patton pokes a sharp wormer down the first base line and with blazing speed makes it to third. Linginfelter garners a walk and then two are on. Stick pops one hard over the right fielder's head scoring two and stopping on second. Stelling steps in and swings at the second pitch and hits it with such ferocity that it is rising and linear when it hits way up the net. A walk off homer by Stelling. This two run tater ends the game by the mercy rule!

Go Buckhead.

The 12s win their first game of the tournament against Ocee Park 15 to 1 ending the game in the 4th inning due to the mercy rule. Sawyer pitched solid as the starter and Sebastian closed for the victory. There were many highlights but Austin hit a towering centerfield tater that cleared the net. A sweet performance by the 12s to start the tournament. The boys will face the MCLL team tomorrow at 6PM if the weather clears. Will post updates if the weather changes our plans.
